Description
The EdgeWater 175 center console was manufactured by Dougherty Marine in Edgewater, Florida. Bob Dougherty, the former chief engineer and designer of Boston Whaler for many years, started EdgeWater Marine in the 1990's when Boston Whaler was sold. He designed and built the 175 center console which has the same style and lines as the classic 18' Outrage built by Boston Whaler during the 1980's - early 1990's. The EdgeWater is a foam filled hull and is unsinkable with all the great features carried over from Boston whaler but with modern features and advanced materials.
Unlike Boston Whaler, EdgeWater uses a 100% composite core with no wood which could rot, EdgeWater offers a full lifetime (transferable) hull warranty (instead of just 10 years). In addition, the fiberglass is thicker so you don't have the waterlogged foam issues to worry about like older whalers. The 175 center console has an 18' centerline length and a wide 7.4 foot beam and is very roomy and stable for its size.
This one owner 2001 EdgeWater is self bailing and floats like a cork. The hull, floor and transom are solid. This hull is in excellent condition. There are 2 recessed rod holders in the gunnels and 4 rod holders built into the center console, which drain, along with a livewell under the seat. The large swingback helm seat has an Igloo cooler underneath and 2 additional rod holders with a removable padded back rest. The console is hinged and tilts forward for easy access to wiring, steering system, controls and the 2 batteries and offers a small storage area. There are no electronics. There is a built in 45 gallon fuel tank. The boat has a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, voltmeter, and hour meter with 177 hours on it. The steering is mechanical and has a superb response while running. A washdown pump and hose attachment is also mounted in the console. A factory stainless steel Bimini top as well as a Sunbrella full mooring cover is included. This EdgeWater was built with all available options including a full cushion set and interior lighting.
The motor is a 2003 Mercury 125 hp, 2 stroke with a stainless steel prop. It has 177 hours use. The motor starts easy, runs strong and is very quiet and fuel efficient. It was used in freshwater lakes and in the Gulf of Mexico. I have flushed the boat, motor, and trailer after each saltwater use. The motor is very clean and runs great. It was recently serviced by a certified Mercury mechanic and has new water pump, spark plugs, and fuel filter. It has a top speed of just over 40 mph in calm conditions. A water separating fuel filter is mounted in the stern. The hull is a modified V hull design with reverse chines and cuts through waves easily, offering a dry ride. The high freeboard makes you feel safe and comfortable even in rough conditions. The boat can go in as little as 10" of water with the motor trimmed up. There is power tilt and trim on both the motor and at the helm.
This boat is rated for 7 passengers and has a capacity of 1700 lbs. It is set up to seat 7 with the front livewell seat attached to the console, the leaning post and two rear jump seats with back rest cushions. The seats are in very nice condition. The boat has a 45 gal built-in tank. There is a very large bow deck which is a great casting platform with a removable bow cushion and a deep well is located under the bow hatch. A swim platform with folding step is mounted on the stern. An automatic bilge pump is mounted in the rear bilge along with the baitwell pump. EdgeWater uses high quality stainless rails, hardware and fasteners and is a high quality boat that handles great in all types of conditions. The hull is easy to wash down and maintain and the gelcoat shines like glass. An anchor, fire extinguisher, life vests, throw cushion and whistle are included.
The boat is on an all aluminum 2001 Loadmaster bunk trailer with 14" wheels, and LED lights. The boat only weighs 1300 lbs without the motor. The trailer is oversized and has a capacity of 3500 lbs which supports the boat well. It has guide posts, launches and tows easily and is in great shape for highway travel. This is a great late model, unsinkable 18' center console boat with lots of room and stability and newer dependable Mercury power and trailer. Overall, the boat, motor and trailer are in excellent condition. This boat is turn key and water ready to take out fishing tomorrow. It is a blast to operate and very dependable. Why settle for an older Boston Whaler Montauk or Outrage for a similar price when you can have a newer Dougherty built EdgeWater with a lifetime hull warranty?
This EdgeWater is located in Tampa, Florida. All of the original boat, motor, and trailer owners manuals and documents will be provided to the new owner.
